The Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to families while their child is in hospital.

The House is run by an independent registered charity called the Alder Hey Family Trust.

The largest Ronald McDonald House in Europe and a proud symbol of our ongoing partnership with children's hospitals in the UK, the Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children's Hospital can accommodate up to 84 families a night.

Originally opened in 1993, with just 26 rooms, the House has undergone two significant expansions and has welcomed over 16,000 families in its history. It now has a total of 69 family bedrooms as well as the extra provision of 15 family apartments for families that are due to stay for prolonged periods. The apartments sleep a family of four/five and are complete with lounge, bathroom and open plan kitchen and dining area - a real 'home away from home' for families that may stay at the House for more than six months.

In 2015, the House helped 1,458 families stay close to their children in hospital.
